I bought my first home in the 1970's. My mortgage interest rate was 8 1/8th %. I was happy to get that before rates went up to 8 1/4%. In 1982, mortgage rates peaked at 18%. We sold homes in those markets. A home purchase is always a good, long-term investment. Do not let the current interest rate prevent you from making a good investment in yourself. If the rate goes down in the future, you can refinance but, history shows prices may never be better than they are today.

What a storm! Power out everywhere! I hope all our friends and family are well. After the big freeze, and associated power outages, from Winter Storm Uri a few years ago, we installed the mother of all generators to power our office. The silly thing works! Brubaker and Associates is open for business. If you need, stop on by to charge your phone, get a hot cup of coffee or check your emails. Pack some patience and be well everyone. This may take some time to fix.

Friends and clients,
We continue to find ourselves in challenging times. As a designated essential service, we are open for business as usual. Well, maybe a little different from usual. Brubaker and Associates is taking every precaution to keep our staff, our clients and property owners healthy and safe. We continue to monitor the situation closely. In the interest of keeping everyone safe, we are utilizing the following protocols.
• Our staff and appraisers are following proper hygiene and hand washing protocols.
• Our appraisers are wearing masks, disposable gloves and booties for all property visitations.
• All personnel, both in-house and field personnel, are maintaining proper social distancing.
• On site, we are requesting property owners open all doors and turn on all lights reducing our need to make physical contact with the subject property.
• No staff that has been out of the country is on site or making property calls.
• Any employee exhibiting any signs of potential virus symptoms is required to stay home.
• If a property owner informs us, either on the phone, or in person, they are not feeling well, or are uncomfortable with us being inside their home, we are canceling the appointment and contacting our client for further instructions.
• When approved by our client, the acceptance of “exterior only” appraisal reports would be the best option to maintain the health and safety of all parties involved.

TURN-TIMES: At the moment, turn-times are a pleasant five to seven business days. Keep those orders coming.

Re: Corona virus – Covid-19 response

Friends and clients,

We find ourselves in challenging times. Brubaker and Associates is taking every precaution to keep our staff, our clients and property owners healthy and safe. We are open for business and monitoring the situation closely.

• No staff that has been out of the country is on site or making property calls.

Further, I am in discussions with many lender/clients, chief appraisers etc., to allow for the temporary use of “exterior only” property visitations during this time. The acceptance of “exterior only” appraisal reports by our clients would be the best option to maintain the health and safety of all parties involved.
