Homestead and Agricultural exemptions can save significant amounts of money on your property taxes. If you are eligible and looking to take advantage of those savings, you must file those forms by April 30th.

Texas Homestead exemptions provide tax relief for a homeownerโ€™s primary residence. The appraised value of your home may be reduced, giving you a lower overall tax bill. Exemptions may also include Age or Disability exemptions may apply to school and county taxes. Tax Code 11.13

You may go to your local County Appraisal District site for Forms or to the Texas State Comptrollerโ€™s site (Link is included below). The form numbers will be the same whether they are on the County site or Comptroller site. Your forms must be received by the local appraisal district by April 30. Late applications may be accepted but penalties may apply.

Not an Exemption but provides significant monetary Tax benefits. It is a special-use valuation (productivity value), not an exemption (as has been referred to for may years).
To apply, youโ€™ll need to file an application with your local appraisal district.

Form 50-129 (1-d-1 (Open Space) Agricultural Use Appraisal. This also includes Apiary - (Bees)
Form 50-167 (1-d-1 (Open Space) Timberland Appraisal
Form 50-281 (Restricted-Use) Timberland Appraisal

Notice of Protest
File this document and all supporting documentation with the appraisal district office in the county in which the property is taxable. Do not file this
document with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
