Dear SBISD Parents, Staff and Community Members,
At last night's Board of Trustees' Workshop meeting, district administration presented recommendations for several elementary school boundary changes to be effective for the 2026-27 school year. The proposed changes, if approved by Trustees, would enable the district to address some longstanding anomalies in several boundaries on the east side of the district that were put in place decades ago. The changes also would help us to level enrollment at some of our elementary campuses.
Additionally, one of the proposed boundary shifts between the current Shadow Oaks Elementary and Westwood Elementary attendance areas would enable the district to move the 3-5th grade SPIRAL gifted and talented program to a new home at Westwood Elementary.
You may view last night's presentation or listen to the presentation video through the links listed below.
Trustees will vote on the proposed boundary adjustments at their November 17, 2025, Regular Meeting.
Should these boundary shifts be approved, we will provide follow up communication districtwide. We will also communicate directly with families whose addresses are impacted.
Families with students currently attending a campus for which their address would indicate a campus change will have the choice to attend the new campus or be grandfathered for their family to remain at their current campus. (District transportation would be provided to the newly zoned campus only.) Open-house opportunities for families to visit their newly zoned school will also be made available.
SBISD parents and community members are reminded of our "Find my zoned school" webpage where you can input your address to view your current zoned campuses. The site would be updated with the new boundaries, if and when the new boundaries are approved.
