Ochre-coloured earth, lush vegetation and marshes as far as the eye can see... In the middle of the South American continent, almost 1,600 km from the Brazilian coast, the Pantanal is one of the world's largest biodiversity sanctuaries. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000, this region is the largest freshwater wetland on the planet, fed by rivers that flow across the whole of Brazil over almost 210,000 km2 of flood plains.
