Not all waterproofing products are created equal.
During a recent inspection, we found a builder using exterior flashing tape as part of the shower waterproofing system.
Flashing tape is designed to keep water out around windows, doors, and exterior penetrations—not to serve as a primary waterproofing membrane inside a shower.
When the wrong materials are used, water can find its way behind tile, leading to hidden moisture damage, mold growth, and costly repairs down the road.
Just because something is new construction doesn't mean it's defect-free. That's why inspections matter.
The details matter when water is involved.
