When we talk about the people we serve at Bethel, we're talking about children, too. 🧡

Over the years, we've had the privilege of hosting birthday parties, sidewalk pool parties, parking lot chalk playdates, and so much more.

Each event reminds us that children are a valuable part of our work, and how the need for attainable housing in Livingston County also extends to littles—because the need for housing knows no age.

We're grateful to be a safe place for our neighbors to land, but EXTRA grateful these last few weeks! 🥵

In case you haven't noticed (🥵!!!), we're in the middle of a record-breaking heatwave.

While the majority of us have access to housing and, as a byproduct, air conditioning, those struggling with homelessness do not.

According to Heat.gov, people experiencing homelessness are disproportionately vulnerable to extreme heat, facing up to 30 times the risk of heat-related hospitalizations and death compared to housed individuals. 🔥

At Community Catalysts, we're working tirelessly to expand access to housing people can afford—but we can't do it without your help.

Guests come to Bethel Suites with stories.

Stories of loss, stories of joy, stories of failure, stories of defeat.

Many times, we're meeting our guests on the worst day of their lives.

But regardless of how bleak the current status of things are, we believe that every guest—no matter their current circumstance—is worthy of dignity and kindness.

And as we work to house, support and empower individuals and their families, we watch shame start to lose it's grip.

The more we serve and share, the more we see how those old stories are met with understanding, compassion, and healing.

As we celebrate three years of Bethel Suites this month, we're overwhelmed by the knowledge that every day, lives are being changed—because stories are being told, shame is diminishing, and the hardest days are being met with love.

Here's to three more years (and many, many more). 🩵
