> A guy named Marcus hit me up needing a small weld done on his gate.
Marcus: “How much for something like this?”
Me: “It’s gonna run you around $375.”
Marcus: “Dang man, that’s steep for a little weld.”
Me: “How much were you thinking?”
Marcus: “I don’t know... maybe $150? I mean it’s just a quick job, right?”
Me: “Then do it yourself.”
Marcus: “I don’t know how to weld.”
Me: “For $200, I’ll teach you. And I’ll even let you use my equipment.”
Marcus: “I don’t have time for all that.”
Me: “That’s why you’re paying me. You’re not just buying a weld — you’re buying everything that made me capable of welding it right the first time.”
Let me break it down for anybody who still doesn’t get it:
You’re paying for:
10+ years of learning what NOT to do
Tools that cost thousands
Time I’ll never get back
Gas to get there
Showing up when I say I will
And getting it DONE right, not cheap
Some people want “quick” and “cheap” — until it falls apart.
Then they call someone like me... and pay double.
