Welcome to Dave Hall's Wandering Wednesdays and happy Arab-American Heritage Month!

Today begins Arab-American Heritage Month. You may or may not know that the Hudson Valley is home to a six-generation old Arab-American community – my own great-grandparents came here in the 1890’s – and the area is peppered with Arab restaurants, cultural events and community institutions, from churches and mosques to social and professional groups.

To get a taste of Arab food, dance, music, perhaps even hear some poetry (This is also National Poetry Month!), think about planning an expedition to the annual Arab-American Heritage Day event that takes place in Westchester County every year. This year’s event is in September, and you can learn the details by going to https://mpacnow.com/ where the event will be listed towards the end of April.

For those who know and love Persian (Iranian) food and culture (Oh, the food!!!!) the Hudson Valley isn’t exactly the epicenter of the Persian experience.
