The minimum requirements for Managed Forest Land (MFL) in WI came up during the Town Open Book (property tax assessment) meeting last night so I thought I would share some specifics. MFL land has rules & requirements but is taxed at a dramatically reduced rate so it may be appealing to some who qualify. The following is pulled today directly from the WI DNR website.

DNR - Managed Forest Land

Enrollment into the Managed Forest Law (MFL) program is open to all private owners of forested land. To qualify for MFL designation, a parcel of land must be at least 20 contiguous acres under the same ownership, or, be at least 10 contiguous acres and be connected by a tract of land under the same ownership to at least one other parcel of at least 10 contiguous acres. At least 80% of each parcel must be productive forest.
