These are Sentricon Bait Stations. They are used for control of Subterranean Termites and are typically placed approximately 10 feet apart around the perimeter of the home.

If you see these at a home you are considering purchasing, some important questions to ask the seller(s) / listing agent are - were these installed as a preventative measure or were they installed because active termites were present? If active termites were present, was there any damage to the home that occurred?

If these are in place, you can call Sentricon to have them serviced and inspected regularly per the manufacturer instructions.

A client of ours called today and told us that his siding was damaged and rotten in numerous areas and that he needed to call his homeowners insurance to get the issue resolved.

He chose not to attend the inspection and also told us that he never read the Inspection Report. We showed him these two deficient comments regarding the siding along with 10 other mentions and he retracted his complaint and said he should have read the report.

We always encourage our clients to attend the inspection so things like this don't happen and we always, always, always say READ THE REPORT!

We do our best to communicate everything we can, however this particular report was 85 pages so we touch on the big items during the inspection and ask clients to read the whole report so they can get the full story of the home.

Kickout flashing or diverter flashing is a specialty roofing component designed to redirect rainwater away from exterior walls and directly into the gutter system at roof to wall intersections. Without it, water will run down the roof line and leak behind the home's siding, causing severe wall rot, structural damage, mold, and exterior staining.

A gas flame appearing yellow or orange in color or behaving with pops of yellow or orange indicates an improper ratio of oxygen for combustion. Often this improper combustion is temporary and could be caused by dust particles or a dirty burner that needs cleaning. If, after cleaning, the flame continues to burn yellow or orange, this could be a more serious problem that requires professional help. Incomplete combustion could cause too much carbon monoxide (CO) to be produced!
