As first-time homebuyers, there are a lot of questions you want to be answered. Here are a couple of things that come to mind....

🔲What are the advantages of buying over renting?
In our Charlotte market rental prices are higher than mortgage payments. When you own a home, you have equity that can benefit you financially. If you have a stable income and know the area where you want to live, talk to a real estate agent and they can guide you in the right direction!

🔳How do I know what my budget for a house will be?
Your first step for this will be to contact a mortgage lender. This can be found through a bank or if you are already working with a real estate agent, they could probably recommend one to you. The lender will want to know about your income, debts, and credit score to determine what amount your loan will be approved for.

🔲How much do I need to have for a down payment?
You could need anywhere from 3.5% to 15% to use as a downpayment. This will depend on what kind of loan you qualify for. You have a lot of options and as a first-time homebuyer, you could qualify for a first-time homebuyers program. Talking to a lender will help you answer a lot of your money-based questions.
