Home with Mindy Because Lake Norman Isn’t One Market — and Neither Is Charlotte
Local insight. Smart moves. Real guidance. I obtained a B.A. in English with a minor in Sociology.

My family used to visit Charlotte annually on Labor Day weekend beginning when I was in 3rd grade, which impacted my decision to spend my college days at UNC Charlotte. After 15 years in the healthcare industry I decided to follow my passion of helping others find a home their family could enjoy for years to come. When I am not with a client I am cheering on the Clemson Tigers in football, my Char

lotte 49ers, or the Carolina Panthers. You can also find me volunteering for my local Zeta Tau Alpha alumni group and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer with the local Charlotte chapter of the American Cancer Society. You can also find me working in my yard with my dog Salem, or being with family and friends having a glass of wine.

One thing I've learned after years of showing homes:

The houses people remember aren't always the newest ones. They're the ones where something just feels right.

Sometimes it's the mature trees. Sometimes it's the yard. Sometimes it's a neighborhood with actual character instead of the same elevation repeated six times down the street.

McClintock Woods has always been one of those places for me.

I'm hosting this renovated ranch Sunday — and it's the kind of home a lot of buyers gravitate toward after they've spent a weekend touring brand-new construction and felt the difference.

Somewhere between Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Pawleys Island, healthcare advocacy, porch-sitting, McDonald’s Coke runs, neighborhood walks, and a house I built at 28… “Home with Mindy” became more than just a real estate page.

I think home says a lot about people.
I think neighborhoods have personalities.
I think commute patterns matter more than granite countertops.
I think the best houses aren’t always the flashiest ones.
And I think people deserve honesty when they’re making big life decisions.

I’ve spent years watching the Charlotte area grow, change, stretch, evolve, and become a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Maybe that’s why I read neighborhoods like stories now.

The truth is — I don’t just love houses.
I love what home means to people.

The fresh starts.
The downsizing.
The “we need more space.”
The “the kids are gone now.”
The “I think we’re ready for something different.”
The “this finally feels like us.”

So if you’re here for real estate, welcome.
If you’re here for neighborhood opinions, porch talk, Southern things, Salem content, or the occasional life observation… welcome to you too.

This is Home with Mindy. 🩷

Most people moving to the Charlotte area don’t make a bad home decision…
they make a bad LOCATION decision.

They fall in love with a house online—
without realizing it’s 45 minutes from everything they’ll do during the week.

I see this all the time.

Buyers come in thinking they want one area…
and end up somewhere completely different once they understand how things actually feel day to day.

Because Charlotte isn’t one market.

Huntersville feels different from Ballantyne.
Mooresville feels different from SouthPark.
Denver feels different from Davidson.

And those differences matter more than the house.

If you’re trying to figure out where you actually fit— don’t start with listings.

Send me:

where you’re moving from
what your work setup looks like

I’ll tell you the 2–3 areas that actually make sense for you before you waste a weekend driving around the wrong ones.

Hey! Come sit at the kitchen counter for a second.

I hosted an open house this weekend and all I could think was…
if you’re relocating here, you wouldn’t hear any of this.

The questions weren’t ‘we love it, where do we sign?’

It was:
‘How old is the HVAC?’
‘When was the roof replaced?’
‘How old is the water heater?’
‘What’s going on with that crack in the ceiling?’

And those are the things that matter—especially when you’re buying from out of town.

Because online, everything can look great.
But in person? That’s where the real conversation happens.

This is the part most people miss when they’re trying to figure out a move from afar.

I’m not just opening doors—I’m listening for the things you’d ask, pointing out what you might not see, and helping you understand what it actually means.

If you can’t be here in person, I’ll walk the house with you on FaceTime and show you everything—good, bad, and in between.

So if you’re planning a move to the Charlotte or Lake Norman area…
you hit the jackpot with me 🤍

Ya'll, this keeps coming up lately…

Parents wanting to move closer to their kids here around Lake Norman and Charlotte.

The grandkids are getting older, schedules get busy, and they don’t want to miss it.

And if you’re the one thinking about making that move, I get it.
You want to be closer— you just don’t want to make a decision you’ll regret.

Because it’s not just a move.

It’s figuring out how to line up selling one home, buying another, and making sure you actually land somewhere that fits your day-to-day life.

And around here, that can look really different depending on where you end up…
🔑 South Charlotte vs Lake Norman
🔑 one side of Mooresville vs the other
🔑 how close you really are to the people you’re moving to be near

This is what I help people work through before anything feels rushed or stressful—so the move actually makes sense when it’s all said and done.

I put together something simple to help you start sorting through it.

If this has come up in your family at all, this will help 👇

Most people making this move aren’t just looking for a home— they’re trying to figure out how to make everything line up the right way. When to sell. Whether to buy now or wait. And how to avoid making an expensive mistake. Whether this move is for you or you’re helping your parents, there.....

Okay… let me say this a little louder for the people in the back 😅

I know y’all are seeing my real estate content.

I know that because you tell me about it 👀😂

But lately I’ve realized…

seeing my posts and actually thinking of me when someone needs a Realtor are two very different things.

And honestly?
That part is probably on me.

Because what I do is so much more than just posting houses or things I am doing in my personal life.

I help people figure out:
🏡 where they actually want to live
📍 what area really fits their lifestyle
💬 what makes sense for their budget, timing, and next move

Because around here…
Lake Norman isn’t just one area, and neither is Charlotte.

And that’s the part I really love helping people with.

So if someone in your world is even thinking about moving — now, later, or “someday” — I’d love to be the one you send them to 🤍

And if that person is you?
You already know where to find me 😉

If you found me… you probably hit the jackpot 🎰

✨ OPEN HOUSE — THIS SATURDAY 11–1 ✨
📍 152 Lighthouse Rd, Mt. Holly, NC

If you’ve been dreaming about waterfront living… but not the Lake Norman price tag, traffic, or chaos… this is the one you didn’t know you were waiting for.

Welcome to life on the Catawba River — where mornings feel slower, evenings feel calmer, and the water is actually part of your everyday life.

Imagine this 👇
☀️ Coffee outside with a river view instead of a view of your neighbor's fence
🚤 Easy access to the water without fighting weekend boat traffic
🍹 Walking (or golf carting) over to J.R. Cash's Grill & Bar for a laid-back dinner or drinks
🏊‍♀️ Cooling off at the nearby community pool just minutes away
🏡 A basement that gives you the extra space everyone wishes they had — think game room, guest suite, gym, or your own retreat

And let’s talk about Mount Holly…
This is one of those towns people move to and think, “why didn’t I do this sooner?”
✔ Small-town charm
✔ Close to Charlotte when you need it
✔ More space, more peace, more value

This isn’t just a house… it’s a whole lifestyle shift.

👉 If Lake Norman has felt out of reach — or just not your vibe — come see what riverfront living can actually feel like.

📅 Saturday, March 21

It’s National Retro Day… and honestly?
The timing couldn’t be better. 😏

Because this week I’ve watched buyers walk into solid Huntersville homes and say:

“It feels dated.”

And then they walk away.

But here’s the twist…

What’s “dated” today was “on trend” 10–15 years ago.
And what’s “on trend” today? It’ll cycle out too.

After 20 years in my own home, I can tell you this — trends change. Good decisions don’t.

Right now in places like Gilead Village or Monteith Park in Huntersville, I’m seeing well-built homes in great locations priced below neighborhood averages simply because they aren’t cosmetically updated.

That hesitation?
It can create opportunity.

Retro doesn’t mean risky.
Sometimes it just means room to build equity.

Before you pass on a home because of paint color or countertops, let’s talk about what’s truly cosmetic vs. what’s costly.

There’s a big difference — and that’s where strategy lives.

Comment “RETRO” if you want the blog I wrote breaking this down.
