Waiting for interest rates to come down doesn’t always mean you’ll pay less for a home.

When rates drop, more buyers often return to the market. Increased demand can lead to stronger competition, fewer opportunities to negotiate, and potentially higher home prices.

That’s why making a real estate decision based solely on interest rates means looking at just one piece of a much bigger financial picture.

A smart buying strategy considers the purchase price, negotiating power, available inventory, competition, down payment, monthly payment, and—most importantly—your long-term goals.

In some market conditions, buying at a higher rate with greater negotiating leverage may be more advantageous than waiting for lower rates and competing in a more aggressive market.
