Economic development is about more than attracting new businesses. It’s about intentionally shaping the kind of community we want to leave to the next generation.
I enjoyed participating in the Walker County Economic Development Corporation workshop and discussing the opportunities, challenges, and priorities that will influence the future of Walker County.
As we look ahead, I believe one of the most important questions is: How do we create meaningful economic growth while preserving the character and strengths that make people want to live, work, invest, and raise their families here?
That requires long-term thinking, collaboration, infrastructure, responsible development, and a willingness to make decisions today whose benefits may not be fully realized for years.
Special thanks to Stephanie Smith and my fellow board members for their hard work and dedication in making the first year of the Walker County EDC possible. Building something new takes vision and persistence, and I’m grateful for everyone who has invested their time and energy into laying the foundation.
I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together for Walker County.
