RESIDENTS IN NORTHEAST MADISON COUNTY (specifically New Market, but anyone living near the Flint River, as dischargewill be into the river):
There will be a PUBLIC HEARING regarding the proposed Watewarer Treatment Facility located at 3257 Wi******er Road, which has a permit already drafted with ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Management). The hearing will take place on October 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Buckhorn High School cafeteria. The public can enter comments regarding their concerns on the ADEM website until October 15th. You may also find the draft of the permit that outlines the proposal on the ADEM site. The County Commission is not involved in this private development, which is being done to support future development. The owner of the land and the company that will own and operate the facility is Integra Water. I've spoken with the owner of the company, John McDonald, and he said that people are welcome to contact his office for additional information, if needed. He said that the plant will not be visible from Wi******er Road, and current property owners will not be forced to link into the system. His company currently operates similar facilities off of Maysville Road and one in the Meridianville area.
