Looks like May is still ringing in a joyful, hopeful Spring. 🌺 I'm looking out my hospital window at a bright, cheerful day. I would love to be outside partaking in it. 🌞

So, we were gearing up to go to a couple of places to check out clinical trials and finally travel to MD Anderson for a creme de la creme 🏰 opinion from one of the super cancer centers. One more piece of the puzzle.🧩 We cut back on some treatment, like immunotherapy, for travel as well as in case we needed a clean out period. 🤔

Then this excruciating pain came on last month, the month of my birthday. Traveled in and out of a couple of emergency rooms to finally end up at UAB downtown. 🏨 I had a small hole that grew in a few days on the right side of my neck and after being cultured, sounded like something from the movie 'Outbreak'. 🐒 I have a serious infection of pseudomanas and has caused great pain within the wound and referred pain in my shoulder, neck, ear, head and parts of face. With parts of the face spasming, nerves and muscle intermittently. 😫

And then along comes a more common outside skin bacteria we all have in common. Of course all this cancer treatment and having cancer 🎗 made me susceptible. I was finally ready to go and now we have been in the hospital a week and a half and counting. I miss home. I miss my cats. Lol. I miss having a little freedom. 🏃‍♀️Was able to have a birthday 🎉 celebration with family, but celebrated Mother's Day 🎀 in this square hospital room. My mom coming up to see me. My dad here the rest of the time. Hope you all moms and fubaby moms had a blast! 🐱🐶

Of course bills for me and family don't stop. 🤑 i know they don't stop for any of us. We are grateful for every cent that comes through my GoFundMe. We can't thank you enough. I know how tough times are and have been for all of us. 🤎

Hi, Facebook world. 🌍 Star light, star bright. First relief I see tonight. Wish I may, wish I might. Hope to get out of bed before tonight...Lol.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It sure does help. Wish I could say I'm put painting the town red. But still working through this pain. 😒 Hopefully kick this soon. 🏃

Hi, world. 🌍 It's a special month this month.

Guess what? Yes, on the one hand it's a special month. It's my birthday month! Next Thursday is my birthday. 🎁 I can smell a cake this year. 🍰 Just won't be able to eat it. On the other hand it has been a tough month.

I have been in a lot of pain, fatigue, financial stress and pulling my hair out for the less than stellar treatment at UAB. There is so much they don't know, which is frustrating. Been in and out of appointments most of the month. My dad always my chauffeur. Sometimes we're at the clinics and hospitals six plus hours. 😳

Dealing with a resistant infection and on treatment. It has created a pocket of fluid that is pushing my right ear out of place causing pain and an uneven appearance. The practitioners are trying to control the pain, but sometimes not much touches this pain. 😵 Needless to say have been sleeping from the fatigue of treatment, the infection and pain. Have not going many places. Thus social butterfly has become a timid wallflower. 🥀

Still pushing for a clinical trial. This seems to be taking longer than expected; so, still on harsh chemo to hopefully control the cancer while searching. It's constant chasing with this cancer and its many side gifts, like infections; sounds that won't heal; unable to eat by mouth and so much more. I hope this all will improve. 🙏 I was lucky when I didn't know I was...

I will say this time last year I was being told maybe I had a year ro a year and a half. Well, May will be a year. These practitioners don't determine my lifeline! 😝

All this has added a financial burden. My whole family is feeling it. The rising costs still with travel, my special food foe feeding tube, medications and more. There is only so much assistance out there and my disability check hardly begins to cover it all. 🤑

Star light, star bright... Just driving home from an errand at night a couple of nights ago. Just an ordinary night. Then low and behold I caught out of the corner of my eye a shooting star! I hadn't seen one in a while. Never ceases to amaze me. I slowly down turning into the neighborhood and take in the magic moment. Of course I stopped and closed my eyes and made a wish. I just know it will come true! ✨ I know there's a science behind it.️ But what have you wished upon a star?

Hi, all. It's March and St. Patrick's Day! Happy St. Patrick's Day! 🍀 It's also my mom's birthday. 🎁 Some crazy weather we are having here in Alabama. All in 24 hour period!

Received results from a recent CT scan. Before in December before the holidays the cancer was at 40% regression. A great Christmas gift. The recent CT scan is showing now it is stable except for notable growth under the left jaw.

The oncologist gave me a small break from chemo. So, with the results we are looking at starting chemo and immunotherapy again. It would be mostly for maintenance and trying to keep it at bay. Yet, it could stop working at any time and rhe cancer can grow again. The spot under the jaw can continue to grow despite treatment. Even now.

There is not much else to choose from in the way of traditional treatment. We have exhausted most of that. Therefore, we are looking at clinical trials again. 🩺

UAB doesn't do much in the way of head and neck clinical trials. Doesn't look like much is open that is close to me. So, I'm looking at MD Anderson again in Houston, TX. Of course, MD Anderson needs you to come for a week for scans and tests to become a patient there before they will even discuss clinical trials with me. Looking at about $2650 for flights for me and my dad; hotel for the week; transportation; and food, etc. Then after that we are looking at flying there once a week or more for treatment. But we will tackle that bridge when we get there. Looking to just raise the $2650 for now so that could put us traveling there within a couple of weeks or more. It also takes a while to get qualified for a clinical trial. Hope the cancer will keep at bay while working to get there.

Looking forward to the day that the clinical trial can not only put this in regression, but remission. To not have to chase the cancer and symptoms and side effects and pain. Not to mention the quality of life that hangs in the balance.

Hi, all. Hope your world is great. 🌍

So, here I was driving last night. It was really raining last night. At times it seemed a monsoon. I was coming to Baptist Health and there was some debris on the road. To avoid the debris I swerved. Before I knew it there was a loud thud and I was up on the curb. I slowly tried to maneuver my car off the curb, but the car was not the same that quickly. It was making funny noises and sounded like something was dragging the ground. The steering wheel was difficult to keep straight. 🚘

The car was slowing down, so I stopped in a neighborhood to look only to be met with a completely flat tire on passenger front side. In attempting to try to get my roadside assistance to work, some cops arrived and were nice enough to change my front passenger tire to my spare. I thanked them in the rain graciously, got gas and slowly made it home only for the bottom to fall out again. And you can see in the photos the spare even needs air.

It was late, but came outside to assess more damage and take photos. Decided the next best step is insurance. Looks like i'll need to reach out to my car insurance to assess the damage. Then remembered my deductible is $1,000. 🤑

Hi, all. Oh, yeah. Happy Friday the 13th.

Looks like my body is attacking itself because each time I have treatment I run a high fever and feel sick, nausea and all. Wish I could say things were going better. Running a fever now while I am typing this out.

The oncologists don't seem to think it is a big deal. But they don't have to go through it. I just wish once they could experience what I am going through.

I won't know where we are at again until new scans in March. With being sick and beung the beginning of the year really struggling with copays and being able to afford care and medicines. Also, still trying to save up for some alternative treatments to see if that will put me in remission. I so desperately wish for that this year.

Haven't taken many new photos lately. Basically it is just treatment and church from time to time. I keep dreaming of a normal life again.

We take so much for granted. You just don't know how lucky you are until something like this happens. Be ever so grateful because it can change overnight.

It's that time of year when the world falls in love... ❤️ As I have been sharing the good news, this cancer is finally responding. It is not only in regression, but at 40% regression.

While celebrating this good news, the financial burdens unfortunately don't stop. I'm still trying to save up for new brakes that are overdue. My health insurance is going up 50% per month come January. And saving up to continue to travel to Georgia and Texas for follow up and treatment.

We are still traveling to CCI in Huntsville for immunotherapy as well as to City of Hope. UAB is still in the picture as well. Trying to get the cancer to go into remission, so that I can have tongue revision surgery. The previous surgeons may have not used enough tissue.

If I had known what I know now I would have gone to the University of Chicago and not had this barbaric surgery. It was to get rid of the cancer and it came back so quickly or the surgeons missed some.

I want to be grateful but right now, especially this time of year, I can't eat by mouth or still speak well. I miss singing too and performing. There are several places I would like to travel to for second opinions, but would all take money for flights and treatment. One is in Mexico. Claims to be lifesaving. It would only be $97K. That will have to wait. Lol. Hard to know so much of your care is limited to finances and what can you afford.

We will keep praying and hoping and wishing and knowing. Thank you for all your prayers, thoughts wishes and hopes. I was going through a rough time before all this happened. Faith and getting myself back on my side was a big part of this journey.

I wish I didn't have to work the past couple of months. Chemo and treatment has been handing it to me.

Hey, ya'll. It's fall! My favorite time of year! Happy Thanksgiving!

New scans are coming up to see if the cancer is stable or growing. Hopefull. Wasn't given the best news at Vanderbilt in searching for clinical trials as a back up plan in case this treatment regime I'm on stops working. Some clinicians still seem to want to put a time stamp on me. But I keep fighting!

Love the holidays. Wish I could enjoy them eating. But all in time. Please eat and enjoy family and friends for me!

Right now I'm trying to save up for brakes for my car as well as traveling to MD Anderson in Houston, TX hopefully in January. They are the leader in cancer treatment and trials. This will run $1600 at the least.

In the meantime, I have volunteered at food drives since I'm unable to eat. Celebrated Halloween and visited with family after much needed rest traveling for treatment. And striving for more in this new life it seems.
