Just learned that its "Brother's Day" today. This is my brother, Cory. We are not brothers by blood (since I was adopted), but we are brothers nonetheless.
Cory is, and always has been, my hero, the one I look up to (literally and figuratively). He was born with all the looks, the brain, and talent that I wish I had! When I was young, probably 11-12 years old, he went into the United States Marine Corps. So, now, the one with all the looks, brains, and talent had dress blues on top of that! In my eyes, he was G.I. Joe.
He and I both think it is important to make the family name something to be proud of, and he has done a phenomenal job.
One of my favorite things is when he introduces me to someone and says with a laugh "He's my brother, can't you tell?" He thinks its clever since we look nothing alike.
As we have gotten older (he, faster than me of course), he is a constant source of advice and bad dad jokes. Though I wish we lived closer, I am glad we both do what we can to make sure we continue to build our relationship. I couldn't ask for a better big brother and uncle for my kids. Happy Brothers Day Cory!
