Just learned that its "Brother's Day" today. This is my brother, Cory. We are not brothers by blood (since I was adopted), but we are brothers nonetheless.

Cory is, and always has been, my hero, the one I look up to (literally and figuratively). He was born with all the looks, the brain, and talent that I wish I had! When I was young, probably 11-12 years old, he went into the United States Marine Corps. So, now, the one with all the looks, brains, and talent had dress blues on top of that! In my eyes, he was G.I. Joe.

He and I both think it is important to make the family name something to be proud of, and he has done a phenomenal job.

One of my favorite things is when he introduces me to someone and says with a laugh "He's my brother, can't you tell?" He thinks its clever since we look nothing alike.

As we have gotten older (he, faster than me of course), he is a constant source of advice and bad dad jokes. Though I wish we lived closer, I am glad we both do what we can to make sure we continue to build our relationship. I couldn't ask for a better big brother and uncle for my kids. Happy Brothers Day Cory!

A couple of weeks ago, we took a family vacation to Charleston for the first time. It's a beautiful city for sure, and one of our favorite things was going on an old fashioned carriage ride through town. The kids loved being chauffeured around town and learning about Charleston via horse and carriage...but I think it's safe to say we're all VERY glad that's no longer the standard mode of transportation these days :)

When you have four kids, it can be hard to take vacations. It's difficult to find a time that accommodates everyone's work or school schedule. It's hard to travel with six people. And expensive.

But I'm so glad that we intentionally made time to get away and experience a new place together as a family. Time with my kids is limited -- before I know it they'll be graduating and moving out! I want to make the most of what time I've got with them.

This picture means a lot to me. This is my dad, Rocky Lamica. The name Lamica is not a name I had any right to from birth. I was adopted into this family as an infant, and given this name. I’ve always wanted to do my part to make this name something to be proud of, like my dad has through the life he lived. From an early age, he instilled in us certain values, such as the the benefit of working hard and the necessity of treating all people with dignity.

It was really fun getting to show him the office and talk to him about the vision of this company today. My dad is 78 years old and still has a reasonable measure of good health and for that I’m grateful. It is not lost on me that many people aren’t blessed to still have both of their parents at 40 years old, but I am.
40 years ago he and my mom took a chance on me and gave me a name I had no right to. I hope I am making them proud of that decision.

PS
He really is happy in this picture by the way, he’s just not much for smiling :)

This is my daughter, JaneClaire. I'm so dang proud of her. Here's why: I've always tried to teach my kids to be the type of person who brings their cart back to the cart return station when shopping. It's not that this small act somehow changes the world... let's be honest, it doesn't. But raising a kid who grows up with a sense of initiative DOES make the world a better place. Liberty requires responsibility.

Raising kids who bring the cart back makes me a proud dad.

I've tried to teach my kids to never wait for other people to do the right thing. The right thing is the right thing even when no one else does it.

The world needs more leaders who do the right thing... because it's the right thing. Not because it's popular or easy.

Sometimes, that starts in a Publix parking lot.

Here are just some of the homes I sold in 2021!
2021 was definitely a crazy year, but the real estate market here in Huntsville continues to be strong... and 2022 will be even better. If you know anyone thinking of buying or selling a home here in the Huntsville area, my personal cell is (256) 683-8819. :)
