Yesterday, we lost our beloved friend, Ila Johnson, also known to many as Ila Porter.

Vibe will never be the same. In a lot of ways, Ila was the Vibe! I the beginning, it was just her and Todd. Having to pick her up is what motivated Todd to get to the office back then.

It is difficult to put into words what Ila meant to us and to so many others. She was a real estate broker, a psychologist, a mentor, a friend, and an extraordinary bridge player. More than any title, though, Ila was someone whose presence made a lasting difference in the lives of the people fortunate enough to know her.

Around our office, Ila was affectionately known as our mascot and her majesty. She ruled the roost, but she did so with grace, kindness, wisdom, and a genuine love for the people around her. She had strong opinions, good instincts, and, more often than not, she was right.

The true measure of Ila’s life can be seen in the people she touched. There are friendships that exist today because of her. There are people whose lives took a different path because of her encouragement, guidance, and influence. She brought people together, invested in them, and left an imprint that will remain long after her passing.

We will miss her presence, her wisdom, her friendship, and simply knowing that she was there. Our office will not be the same without her, and neither will we.

Yesterday, we lost Ila, but only for the time being. Until we see her again, we will carry with us everything she gave us and be grateful beyond measure that we had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Rest well, you will be loved, remembered, and missed forever.
