That’s what happened with this sweet couple.

They moved to Huntsville about two years ago for work and to be near dear friends. They decided to rent in South Huntsville while they got to know the area and waited for the right home to come along.

And when they were ready?

They knew they wanted to stay right here.

Close to friends.

🏡 A new Alabama Law is coming October 1st - and it’s all about protecting Property Owners.

We recently attended a meeting about Alabama’s new “Property Protection Act”, and I wanted to share the simple version:

The law is designed to help prevent PROPERTY FRAUD - especially situations where someone pretends to be the Owner of a property and tries to sell it.

Going forward, REALTORS® will have additional steps to verify a Seller’s IDENTITY and OWNERSHIP in certain situations - particularly when we don’t already know the Seller and they aren’t able to meet with us in person.

There will also be additional protections and verification steps for certain higher-risk transactions, including some vacant and non-owner-occupied properties.

Bottom line:
It’s another layer of protection for Property Owners, Sellers, Buyers and Real Estate Professionals. 🏡

As REALTORS®, we’ll be doing a little more verifying and documenting to help make sure the person selling the property is actually “authorized” to do so.

And honestly? I’m perfectly happy to do a little extra homework when it comes to protecting my clients. 😉

The Alabama Property Protection Act takes effect October 1, 2026.

One of my favorite things about being a Realtor isn’t just helping my Buyers find a house…

It’s getting the texts and pictures after they’re home.

The “We got it!!!” texts.
The family heirloom finally sitting in its new dining room.
The before-and-after projects.
The rooms that slowly start looking less like a house and more like THEIRS.

⭐️ This dining table was built by my Buyer’s grandfather. ❤️

When we were looking at homes, we weren’t just looking for bedrooms and bathrooms. We were looking for a home that would eventually have a space for this very special piece of their family history.

⭐️ My Buyer is an artist, and she took her completely ordinary, bland closet space and turned it into another piece of art.

I LOVE seeing this.

For me, Closing Day isn’t the end of my relationship with my Buyers.

I honestly want to stay in touch and I want to see what you do with your homes.

Show me!!
Paint the walls.
Hang the weird art. 😂
Plant the garden.
Make the kitchen yours.
Bring home the family heirlooms.

Let’s talk about something other than “rates” for a minute.

I know… rates are on everybody’s mind right now.

And they matter. I’m not going to pretend they don’t.

But they aren’t the heart of why we buy a home.

We buy homes because we want a Backyard where the kids can run until the sun goes down.

We want the Living Room full of friends watching football.

We want book club gathered around our own Kitchen Island… probably talking about everything EXCEPT the book. 😂

We want a Front Porch where the neighbors become our people.

We want Holidays around the table.
Birthday cake in the kitchen.
Dogs underfoot.
Grandkids running through the house.

A Home that slowly becomes ours.
That’s the heart of the home.

Life doesn’t stop because interest rates changed.

People still get married.
Babies still come along.
Jobs still happen.
Families still grow.
People still need more space, less space, a different neighborhood, a shorter commute, or simply a place that feels more like home.

So if buying a home is part of your life plan, don’t let the rate be the only thing keeping you from the conversation.

Let’s look at the whole picture. There may be options you haven’t considered yet.

And if right now isn’t your time? That’s okay, too.

The “Market” may be making some people pause. “Life”, on the other hand, doesn’t always ask permission.

Sometimes Life just changes.

A new job.
A growing family.
A divorce.
A loss.
A parent who needs more help.
Or maybe you’ve simply realized your house doesn’t fit the life you’re living anymore.

And yes… I know interest rates have some folks pumping the brakes right now.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned after years in this business:

Real Estate decisions aren’t always about the market. Sometimes, they’re about LIFE.

If you’re standing at one of those “Okay… what do we do now?” moments, you don’t have to have all the answers before you call me.

We can talk.
We can look at the numbers.
We can talk through your options.

And maybe we decide now is the time. Maybe we decide it isn’t.

Either way, there’s no pressure and no sales pitch. Just a conversation.

Because I’m not scared of a slower market. I have been here before.

THIS is my kind of traffic jam. 🚤😎

If you know, you know… and if you don’t, let me introduce you to one of my favorite little South Huntsville hidden gems — Ditto Landing.

Tucked down on the Tennessee River at the southern edge of Huntsville, Ditto Landing is one of those places that can make you forget you’re only a few minutes from the city.

Boats coming in and out.
Fishing poles along the river.
People walking and biking.
Campers settling in.
Mountain views.
And that big beautiful Tennessee River doing its thing. 💙

And there’s something pretty exciting happening down here, too…

The old State Docks building is being transformed into a brand-new Riverfront Event Center with indoor and outdoor event space, restaurant areas, and an upper-level space called the Crow’s Nest with some pretty spectacular views of the Tennessee River, Hobbs Island and the Cumberland Plateau.

The event center is expected to be completed this Fall, and a new 450-space parking area is being added to support it.

Which means this little corner of South Huntsville is about to get even more interesting. 👀

But even with all the growth and changes happening around it, Ditto Landing still has that same laid-back feeling I love.

That’s one of the things I love about South Huntsville. There are these little pockets that feel like they belong to the people who live here.

So the next time you’re looking for somewhere to get away without actually getting away…
