Reflecting on this “maternity leave” and how different it’s looked the second time around. I keep catching myself comparing the two, when really, almost everything about life is different now.
With my first, I took genuine time off to rest, recover, and soak in all the newborn snuggles. I spent a lot of days on the couch binge watching TV with a sleeping baby on my chest, and my only real job was figuring out how to be a mom.
This time, I was working from my phone hours after my sweet babe was born, and honestly, it hasn’t slowed down much since. 😂 Business doesn’t exactly stop because I had a baby, but at the same time, there’s a newborn to snuggle, a toddler who still needs his mama, and a season I know is going to go by way too fast.
So while you may have seen a little less of me in this space, there are only so many hours in a day—and at the end of the day, my family and the clients I’m actively serving will always come before showing up here. 🤍
What a blessing to have a career that allows me to work mostly from home with my babies, and people I trust to step in when I can’t.
Sometimes I feel guilty that this baby doesn’t get the same slow, quiet version of me that my first did. But then I remind myself that he gets something my first didn’t—a big brother who already loves him so much. He gets to grow up in a home that’s a little louder, a little crazier, and filled with even more love.
This season has been busy, exhausting, messy, and far from perfect. I’m working, mothering, trying to be present, and feeling incredibly grateful for two beautiful boys, a supportive husband, an amazing village, and a career I love that gives me the flexibility to be home. Life is louder, busier, and fuller than ever.
So yes, this maternity leave has been a complete 180 from my first—but life is a complete 180, too.
And I wouldn’t trade this version of it for anything.💙🩵
And as always, even if you see a little less of me, I’m still here! ☺️ If you ever have any real estate questions or needs, don’t hesitate to reach out.
