Take like 30 seconds to go outside and check your AC condensing unit.
If it looks like this, it’s struggling!
The fan in the middle pulls air through these fins to cool down the refrigerant (transfer the heat to the air) before it travels back inside.
When it’s clogged like this, the refrigerant isn’t getting cooled down like it should reducing efficiency by 20-30 percent! This means this system is working harder and longer increasing your bills, and decreasing the life of the system.
Plus, your house may be humid and not cool down enough.
You can usually just use a water hose to gently remove the dust. Don’t use high pressure because you can damage the fins. If you’re worried about damaging it, just call an HVAC tech to clean it.
