Here are a few of the questions we hear most often:
❓ Q: What does it take to have an estate sale?
✅ A: It starts with a simple walkthrough of the property. During that visit we’ll discuss your timeline, answer your questions, and explain our entire process—from organizing, researching, pricing, and staging your items to choosing the best weekend to hold your sale.
If, for any reason, we aren’t the right fit for your particular situation, we’ll only recommend reputable professionals we trust to take great care of you.
❓ Q: Should I start throwing things away before you come?
✅ A: Yes…but only a few things!
Please remove:�• Old or expired food�• Undergarments�• Unsanitary items
Other than that, please don’t assume something has no value. We say it all the time because it’s true:
“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.”
We’ve seen countless items that families planned to discard turn out to be desirable collectibles or valuable pieces.
❓ Q: I’m selling my home in less than a month. Can you do an estate sale that quickly?
✅ A: The honest answer is it depends.
It depends on:�• The size of the estate�• How much inventory needs to be sorted�• Our current schedule
At Family and Friends Liquidation, we pride ourselves on handling every single item in every estate we manage. We represent our clients with care, integrity, and attention to detail. Rushing the process can impact the quality of the sale and ultimately the return for our clients.
In many cases, we can complete a thorough estate sale in less than a month, provided we’re not already booked and there’s enough time to properly prepare. If you’re working with a Realtor, let them know an estate liquidation company needs adequate time to do the job efficiently and maximize your results. Most estate sale companies are booked out one or more months in advance. The sooner we prearrange, the better so you’re not left in a pinch.
❓ Q: What should I do to get my home estate-sale ready?
✅ A: The biggest thing is to remove—or clearly mark—any personal belongings that are NOT FOR SALE.
This one step makes the entire process smoother for everyone and helps prevent confusion during setup and the sale itself.
