Good morning West Region Multifamily Stakeholders:
Nearly 30 million children participate in USDA’s school breakfast and lunch programs on an average school day. When school is out for the summer, kids lose access to these healthy meals, but they still need nutritious food to grow healthy and strong. That’s why HUD Multifamily is pleased to partner with USDA to promote the SUN Meals program to help our kids get the nutrition they need over summer break.

With SUN Meals, kids 18 and under can get free meals and snacks at schools, parks, and other group meal locations. And, in some rural areas, meals can be picked up or delivered through SUN Meals To-Go.

Families don’t need to apply for SUN Meals or SUN Meals To-Go. Every child is welcome to eat and connect with other kids, and some meal locations offer fun activities, too!

Please help us promote the program to residents and property management staff by sharing the attached flyer.

The SUN Bucks grocery benefit is a great complement to the SUN Meals program. SUN Bucks provides families $120 per eligible school-aged child, so families can stretch their grocery budget and buy more of the foods kids love! SUN Bucks is designed to work together with other benefits families may already get, like SNAP and WIC, and children can still enjoy free SUN Meals at local meal sites, too.
