With the change of season coming soon, now is a good time to prepare your home for the fall season.
ππ»Clean the debris out of your gutters.
ππ»Make sure the water is flowing through your downspouts. Downspouts should drain into a storm drain or have a splash block that diverts the water away from the house.
ππ»In the Willamette Valley foundation vents should be left open all year. The crawlspace needs to have air flow. The only time they should be closed is if the temperature is below freezing.
ππ»Caulk openings in the sidings and around the exterior of the windows.
ππ»Have an HVAC company service your heating unit. This will help with the efficiency and extend the life of the system.
ππ» Check the batteries on your smoke detectors. Smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years. There is a manufacturers date on the unit. Smoke detectors should be located outside each bedroom. Carbon monoxide detectors should be installed on each level of the home.
