💙 May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at WAYS, we know that mental health and housing are deeply connected.

WAYS is proud to work alongside the Brevard Homeless Coalition, Inc (BHC), pictured here at their annual Membership Meeting with Pam Bress, to address youth homelessness right here in Brevard County. Founded in 2015, BHC’s mission is to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in Brevard County. Their 2026 Point-in-Time Count underscores an important truth: homelessness is not simply a story of mental illness or addiction—it’s a story of housing access. In fact, Brevard’s total homeless housing inventory has decreased from 1,704 beds in 2023 to 1,453 in 2026, highlighting the growing gap between need and availability.

That’s why WAYS is partnering with BHC to expand housing options for youth experiencing homelessness, while also supporting each young person’s mental health, so they can not only access housing, but sustain it and build a better path forward. 🏠✨

This Mental Health Awareness Month, they invite everyone to remember: stable housing is a mental health issue. Together, they’re working to change the story.
