This past year has taught our family more than I ever expected to know about caring for aging parents.
We have walked through broken hips, ribs and back, hospitals, rehab, assisted living, palliative care and hospice. We also said goodbye to an amazing man, a husband, father and Opa, and a true American hero. And somewhere in there, we added another black belt, an Eagle Scout, a high school graduate and a college freshman. Life goes on.
Along this journey, there were hard decisions, lots of questions and plenty of moments when we weren't sure what to do next. We just kept learning and doing the best we could for the people we love.
Recently, I have had conversations with family members facing some of these same decisions, and I realized just how overwhelming it can feel when you know something needs to change but don't even know where to begin.
I understand that in a completely different way now.
That is why I decided to earn my SRES® Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation and CRTS™ Certified Relocation & Transition Specialist certification.
I want to take what I have learned, personally and professionally, and use it to help other families through this process. Maybe I can help make the decisions a little clearer, connect them with the right resources or simply help them figure out what to do first.
