UPDATE: 5:54 PM
Today's incident began in Darlington County with reports of shots fired near the 1200 block of North 5th Street. Additional gunfire was reported in the area of Lakeview and North 5th Street.
Officers located a suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and crashed at the end of Green Street. Upon wrecking, the suspects fired at officers before fleeing on foot.
One suspect was taken into custody on Green Street, where officers also recovered two fi****ms. A perimeter was established by the Hartsville Police Department, Darlington County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and SLED. K-9 units and investigators conducted an extensive search, leading to the capture of the remaining two suspects near the Dollar General on West Carolina Avenue.
At this time, authorities believe there is no ongoing threat to the public and the incident is still under investigation.

Law enforcement has given the all-clear, and school s are no longer under lockdown. The situation has been resolved, and the area around Marion Avenue and Gandy Drive is clearing.

Authorities are currently on scene with a significant police presence on Marion Avenue and Gandy Drive in connection with the earlier incident.
We urge the public to avoid this area if possible to allow emergency personnel to conduct their operations safely and efficiently. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
HARTSVILLE, SC: The Hartsville Police Department is currently investigating a shots fired incident off of Green Street. Out of an abundance of caution, schools in the area are on lockdown. Authorities are actively working to ensure the safety of the community, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
