Call me “old-fashioned," but I’m seeing more and more agents in East Central Indiana using AI to automate selling homes. And while I appreciate what technology can do, there's just some things AI should never replace.

Like what happens when you call a business.

An actual person should answer the phone. Not a bot asking you to "listen to the menu options, as they may have changed, so they can direct your call." 😉

At least, that's what I think.

Which is why I’m making this PSA: when you call (317) 513-8929, you won’t get a bot. You’ll get me. A real person, ready to pick up the phone and help.

Because in a world moving more and more towards automation and advancing technology, I believe some things should stay the same. Like talking to an actual person when you call a business.

P.S. I know some businesses use an automated line for different reasons. I understand. I’m just saying I won't! In the real estate business, some things must remain personal. 🙂

I had never had a head spa treatment before, so I really didn't know what to expect when I walked into Lookworthy Esthetics By Brena.

What I found was an hour of complete relaxation and a chance to shut my brain off for a little while. Amanda has a way of making you feel comfortable the moment you sit down, and it's obvious she truly cares about the people who walk through her door.

For one full hour, I wasn't thinking about emails, phone calls, work, or the endless list of things that needed to get done. It was one of those moments where you don't realize how much stress you're carrying until you finally slow down.

Amanda started her journey in the spa industry in 2020, became a licensed esthetician in 2023, and has since built a business centered around helping people feel confident, refreshed, and cared for.

While she's known for her head spa treatments, she also offers facials, hydro-facials, body treatments, waxing, lash lifts and tints, and more. She recently moved her business to Pendleton and has already made quite an impression, winning 7 of the 8 Best of Madison County awards she was nominated for in 2026.

If you've been thinking about trying a head spa treatment, consider this your sign. As a first-timer, I can honestly say I get the hype now. It was wonderful, incredibly relaxing, and I can't wait to go back! ❤️

I firmly believe that buying a house at a young age is one of the absolute best things you can do. Will owning a house make you “rich”? Of course not. But it lays a financial foundation where every month you’re building equity in SOMETHING. This is not insignificant.

Making progress towards a goal is addicting (in a good way), and it eventually shows up in other areas of your life. The younger you learn this, the better.

More important than the money itself is the mindset this habit unlocks.

Every goal in life worth pursuing is going to take a long time….and it’s going to require ongoing consistency more than temporary intensity. Too many people are trying to “get rich quick” when they should be focused on getting rich slowly.

In any endeavor, the price of success is usually just doing the same boring things over and over again….that most people aren’t willing to do. This is what creates results in the gym, in business, and ultimately, in life.

This is why cultivating the emotional discipline to pay a monthly mortgage is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

It’s more than a mortgage, it’s about the type of person it helps you to become.

I think we're all adults, so I'm not going to sugarcoat this: Homeowners, you can't sell your house "as is" and get top dollar anymore. Last week, I met with an East Central Indiana homeowner to discuss listing their home and at first, they didn't like what I had to say. Long story short, their house needed some work.

After all, homes in East Central Indiana ARE in demand and selling relatively quickly if they are priced right. But here's what I wanted them to understand: by taking a day or two and knocking these to-do's out, they could MAXIMIZE the offers they are going to get. If spending a weekend picking up your home could mean getting a couple more thousand on an offer, it's worth it.

Sure, they absolutely could list the home as is, without putting any work into it, but that also means they could miss out on some offers. Here's what I mean:

1. There was no curb appeal. Bushes in the yard were overgrown and the front stoop was sprinkled with dirt and old leaves.

2. The inside was a bit cluttered. They had filled their home with fantastic memories, but they were their memories, not those of potential buyers.

3. The spare bedroom was a "catch-all room," you know, the spot where you drop everything and "get to it later."

4. The kitchen counter was littered with a toaster, a KitchenAid mixer, utensils, cookbooks, and baking ingredients.

Here's what I advised them to do:

1. Pick up the sticks, cut back the bushes, and run a broom over the front stoop (better yet, spray it down once you are done).

2. Take your photos off the wall. Place them in a box since you'll be moving anyways (get ahead of the game)!

3. Clean out the spare bedroom. Take that day and go through those items you always said you would. Drop stuff off at a donation center, toss it, or pack it up.

4. Put all those kitchen items in the cupboards. Clean counters are better than cluttered ones.

So, if you are looking for a Realtor who doesn't "sugarcoat" it, I'd be happy to stop by and help you get your home ready. I want to get top dollar for you.

We stopped into Ky's American Bistro for a quick lunch before a closing, and after the owner came by our table to check on us personally, we left thinking, “Okay, now we get why people love this place so much.”

Ky’s started back in 2018 as a food truck called Ky’s Kreations, and it’s been really cool to see how much it’s grown over the years. What started as a food truck turned into catering, then a restaurant, and now their newer Broad Street location in New Castle, which they moved into in 2024.

You can tell Jo & Ky have poured a lot into this business. They recently added Twin Lions next door, which gives the whole space a really welcoming feel, somewhere you can sit, relax, catch up with friends, and enjoy being there for a while. They also have another quick-pickup location inside and beside Junque in the Trunk Vendor Market with a drive-through option, which is such a smart idea.

The food definitely lives up to the hype, too. People rave about the salad bar and burgers, and their beef is locally sourced from L&K Farms. They’ve even won awards for their tenderloin.

But honestly, the biggest thing that stood out to us was just how much they care about their customers and staff, and about supporting other local businesses around them. It didn’t feel transactional at all. It felt personal.

One thing Jo said that really stuck with us was:
“You’re not working if you truly love what you do.”

And after spending time there, you can tell they really mean that. 💙

Spring showers bring May flowers, and they land right in the heart of New Castle at The Flower Studio! This flower shop is one of those places where you walk in and are greeted with the most welcoming experience.

Emily Farris, the owner, opened The Flower Studio in October 2025, but she's been around this world forever. She grew up in her family's greenhouse, worked in landscaping and interior design, and you can tell. Especially if you let her do her "florist's choice" thing. That's where her creativity really shines!

They serve all of Henry County and even work with local funeral homes, which says a lot about the trust people have in her. Also, it's not just flowers. There are so many good gift options: lanterns, wind chimes, memorial pieces, baby stuff, cards, etc. It's one of those go-to spots when you need something thoughtful, but you don't want it to feel last-minute.

Katie and I stopped in last week, and we each picked out a container, and Emily made arrangements for us right there on the spot. It was really cool to watch her in her element. She also sent me home with a bouquet, and I ended up putting it in one of my favorite Ball jars, which just made me love it even more.

With Mother's Day coming up, The Flower Studio is hosting a teacup event, and they'll have some really pretty perennial baskets. Emily also does small workshops for groups (like 4-6 people), which would be such a fun outing!

If you haven't stopped in to The Flower Studio yet, you really should! 🌷💐
