Pay attention to the quality of the work, and ask whether major updates were done professionally and permitted when required.

New finishes and features are wonderful, but making sure the work behind them was done properly can save you money and a headache down the road!

The listing says “as is”….it’s one of those phrases that can sound more intimidating than it needs to be.

Usually, it means the seller plans to sell the home in its current condition and is not planning to make repairs before closing.

That does not automatically mean there is something wrong with the house, and it does not mean you should skip doing your own due diligence. An inspection can still help you understand exactly what you are buying and decide whether the home makes sense for you.

The details of every transaction are different, so if you see “as is” on a listing you are interested in, ask questions before ruling the home in or out.
