Kingsway Services, LLC. did some concrete work for us at Clay Village Apartments. Our drive lane has several catch basins that collect and drain surface water from the drive lane, but the grates were installed with asphalt coming right up to the edge of the grate. This isn’t ideal, as asphalt tends to move over time and with temperature fluctuations; so, we poured a concrete collar around each catch basin lid.

Concrete is much more stable and durable for this application and won’t move like asphalt. By undertaking this repair, we’ve made sure that our catch basins stay level and where they are supposed to be, and we’ve created a much more durable condition that will ensure we have access to the drainage system as needed for maintenance for a long time to come.

The asphalt paving at Clay Village Apartments was in OK condition overall, but there were a couple of defects that we want to correct. First, the lot for Building A was extremely deteriorated and needed full replacement. This lot is approximately 1,000 sf and we did a full 4” mill and repave of it. Additionally, the drive lane was collecting water at a seam, so the freeze/thaw cycle over time has caused failures allowing potholes to open up.

Our partner on this scope is Kingsway Services, LLC. from Dundee, OH and they were able to get the weather sensitive paving scope completed before the asphalt plant closed for the season. They finished over 500’ of milling in a 3’ wide section along the failing seam.

Caveman Contracting is our partner on appliance replacements at Clay Village Apartments. They maintain a warehouse in New Philadelphia that will enable the delivery of all 40 sets at one time then dispose of the old appliances 2-3 units at a time as they are able to coordinate access with the tenants.

We’re excited to upgrade from 30-plus year-old white appliances to new stainless steel appliances in every apartment here! Caveman Contracting,LLC
