Plot twist: a home in your favorite neighborhood really was the answer.

How to tell if a home has been loved, not just lived in...

It's in the little things. Fresh mulch in the flower beds even though it's not for sale season. A furnace that's been serviced every year, not just when something broke. Paint touch-ups in the hallway where scuffs usually get ignored.

A house that's just been lived in shows you the bare minimum. A house that's been loved shows you the extra effort nobody had to make.

You can feel the difference the second you walk in. And honestly? It's one of my favorite parts of this job — helping you tell the two apart.

The Metro Indianapolis housing market experienced a modest slowdown in August, with new listings declining 13% month over month and pending contracts slipping 1%. While fewer homes entered the market, buyer demand remained relatively steady, with more than 3,100 homes going under contract.

Homes are taking longer to sell, with average days on market rising to 26, suggesting buyers have slightly more time and flexibility during their home search. The median sales price dipped just 1% to $327,250, indicating that home values remain relatively stable despite shifting market conditions.

Overall, the Indianapolis market continues to show healthy fundamentals, with steady buyer activity, stable pricing, and a more balanced pace benefiting both buyers and sellers.
