Several years ago, my wife and I began looking for our perfect family home. Like many people, we had started our family, had a two-year-old daughter, had one on the way and we were running out of space! We loved the area we currently lived in and didn’t want to sacrifice by moving to the suburbs. So with a long and specific wish list and a tight budget we set out to find it. Unfortunately, we bega
n to realize our “perfect” home was going to be pretty difficult to find. We kept running into to one issue after another, wrong location, too expensive, too small or needed too much work. We finally found a house in our budget in a beautiful neighborhood, but it needed work, a lot of work! With the realization that any house we found was going to need a major “Makeover” we decided this one was worth it. Fortunately, having experience as a general contractor and access too many subcontractors and trades people allowed us to believe we could make it happen. So we rolled up our sleeves and got started. We were determined to make this house our home. The project was our first major “custom” remodel and it was a huge learning curve. Let’s just say it did not go as smoothly as we would have liked. We went over time, over budget, and still had endless “to do lists” after we moved in. Thankfully with the help of some great friends and family, we transformed a quaint 2 bedroom bungalow into our 5 bedroom family home. Over the years we have seen many friends give up on the area and make the move to the suburbs. Given what we had been able to do, we thought there has to be a way to make this possible for more people. How could the average person with no contracting or real-estate experience navigate through a project like this? That’s when the idea of the Makeover Mortgage process was born. We were motivated more than ever to create a program that would allow people to find their almost perfect home, get a mortgage that incorporated the remodel budget, and have access to contractors that could perform the work. We wanted to change the way people looked at purchasing a home. You don’t have to compromise on location or continue to pass up house after house because the kitchen isn’t perfect or the bathroom needs remodeling. With the Makeover Mortgage process you don’t need to feel so daunted or overwhelmed by the renovation process. The possibilities are endless, maybe you’re not ready to add a second story or add on an addition, with the Makeover Mortgage process you can do as much or as little as you want or need. So don’t pass up that next house just because it needs a little work, give us a call and let us help you give it the makeover it deserves!
