Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who demonstrated extraordinary courage in one of our nation’s darkest moments.
Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember, honor, reflect, and be grateful.
September 11 also reminds us of something that extends far beyond real estate: family, legacy, preparation, and taking care of the people we love.
🏁 PROBATE FUN FACT FRIDAY
Did you know that an estate property in California may be sold before the entire probate case is finished?
Many families assume they must wait until probate is completely closed before they can do anything with an inherited home. That’s not necessarily the case.
Once an executor or administrator has been properly appointed, real estate may be sold during the administration of the estate when the appropriate probate procedures are followed. The exact process will depend on the authority granted to the personal representative and the circumstances of the estate.
For a family dealing with an inherited property, understanding those options can be extremely important. A home may continue to have a mortgage, taxes, insurance, maintenance, utilities, repairs, and other carrying costs while probate moves forward.
