Did you know?

The Louisiana black bear, our official state mammal, was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in 1992. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of multiple stakeholders to monitor black bear population numbers, restore their habitat, and protect the subspecies for the long term, the bear has now recovered and it was removed from the list in 2016.

Let’s keep being mindful and respectful of our local wildlife so this doesn’t happen again.
