3 Dirty Secrets About Video Surveillance Systems

#1 – Security Cameras Rarely Serve as a Deterrent to Crime. Studies show installation of security cameras has no effect whatsoever on crime rates.
#2 – Most Recorded Video is Useless as Evidence Due to Poor Quality of Recorded Images. Cameras can view a wide area or provide a high level of detail, but can’t provide both. There’s an issue with improper viewing angle since cameras need a relatively straight-on shot of a person’s face, which is rarely obtained. Blind spots in coverage areas, improper lighting conditions and improper recording resolution settings also result in blurred, unidentifiable images.
#3 – Megapixel Security Cameras Don’t Cure All Video Surveillance Problems. – These cameras only work best indoors with adequate day-light that doesn’t vary throughout the day. Bad image quality with cameras outside at night. They can’t cover a large area. They can’t stop issues of blockage of view, improper viewing angle and poor lighting conditions.

FAULTY SWING SET LEADS TO $20M JUDGMENT AGAINST HOA

A Las Vegas jury awarded a Nevada homeowner $20 million after a swing set collapsed on him resulting in brain damage. The $20 million verdict exceeded the homeowner’s insurance policy. All HOAs with clubhouses, gyms/fitness centers, recreational buildings, pools, spas, tot lots, sports courts, etc. should have an umbrella policy providing higher loss limits in the event of a high loss.
