Date night spot: Nara Thai Kitchen
My take: i never liked curry, but their curry was out of this world! (It sounds exag but it’s true!)
Nara is one of those spots in Irvine that feels a little more elevated than your typical Thai place. Think: modern wood interiors, dim lighting, date-night energy, and a slightly upscale casual feel. People consistently call out the ambiance as “beautiful,” “relaxing,” and even “sexy” for a dinner setting.
The food (what it’s known for):
* Rich curries (especially shrimp curry, Panang, green curry)
* Pad Thai that’s less oily and more balanced
* Thai beef jerky (sleeper favorite)
* Fresh, authentic flavors with clean presentation
What people like:
* High-quality ingredients and strong flavors
* A more “date-night” Thai experience vs casual takeout
* Good vegan options (especially curries)
What to be aware of:
* Portions can feel smaller for the price
* Service can be inconsistent during busy times
* Slightly pricier than typical Thai in OC
👉 Overall: It’s not your everyday Thai spot—it’s more of a “impress someone / intentional dinner” type of place.
📍 The Surrounding Area (North Irvine / Portola Springs / Orchard Hills)
This is actually one of Irvine’s newer, quieter but highly curated food pockets—not chaotic like Diamond Jamboree, but more polished and local-community driven.
