On Tuesday, October 17 at 6:00pm the Huntington Beach City Council will vote to pass Agenda Item 20 - Resolution 2023-41 - A Resolution of the city council of the City of Huntington Beach Establishing a Policy for the review and recataloging of library materials containing sexual content -
The resolution proposes:
- A '21 member parent/guardian review board' to evaluate new children's materials for City Libraries.
-Rejection of items not meeting the committee's standards.
-Current library materials might be reassessed by the same board.
-Parental consent needed for under-18s accessing materials with sexual content.
This resolution will allow a hand-selected committee appointed by City Council to ban books and other materials from the Huntington Beach Public Libraries.
Attend the Huntington Beach City Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:00pm and send a written comment to City Council [email protected] and oppose this extreme resolution and support your library.
