I've been seeing a lot of headlines about foreclosures lately.

I understand why they get people's attention. For many people, they bring back memories of 2008.

But today's market is very different. In the first half of 2008, there were more than 1.3 million foreclosure filings. This year, that number was under 250,000.

Every foreclosure is difficult for the family involved, but the data doesn't suggest we're heading back to 2008.
