We are excited to introduce our January 2024 Top Producer: Whitley Boyd ⚡
A RESILIENT FORCE SHAPING CHARLESTON REAL ESTATE 🏠
Whitley Boyd, a name synonymous with excellence in Charleston's real estate scene, embodies the spirit of resilience, determination, and a relentless pursuit of success. With 7 years in the industry, she has managed to rise to the top, earning recognition, awards, and the respect of her peers. But what sets her apart isn't just her impressive achievements — it's her unwavering commitment to leading by example and her dedication to both her clients and fellow agents.
Hailing from Atlanta, GA, and spending her early years in Atlanta, Dallas, TX, and Florida, Whitley’s upbringing was marked by the constant ebb and flow of her parents’ careers. Her mother’s accomplishments in the real estate industry and her father’s entrepreneurial ventures instilled a sense of ambition, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the importance of taking ownership of one’s decisions.
However, it was her decision to attend The College of Charleston in 1997 that marked a defining moment in her life. Her participation in the inaugural class of The Emerging Leaders Program laid the foundation of her leadership skills and set her on a path of continuous growth and self-improvement.
But why real estate? The answer lies in her deep-rooted fascination with architecture, design, construction, and home values. Growing up around the industry, Whitley’s childhood game of guessing home prices from flyers hinted at her future career. She gave presentations on real estate in college and, in her words, even though she had invented virtual tours until her mom set the record straight. But for Whitley, real estate isn’t just a job; it’s a responsibility she takes seriously—being entrusted with handling someone’s largest asset.
Whitley Boyd’s career volume speaks for itself about her success. With approximately $50 million in transactions, she has consistently proven her prowess in the real estate world. While she remains humble about her achievements, her accolades tell a different story. She’s been honored as an East Cooper Top Producer, and a Realtor of Distinction, and has reached various award levels with Carolina One, including Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. She was also recognized as a (I was one of 3 and don’t want to misrepresent my award) “Best of the Best” Realtor by Mount Pleasant Magazine in 2020 and 2021. Furthermore, she’s the President of the Lowcountry Alumni Club for The College of Charleston, a testament to her commitment to giving back to her community.
Whitley’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. A significant obstacle came during her freshman year of college when she realized she had to pay for her education entirely. Most people might have considered dropping out or seeking a more affordable alternative, but quitting was never an option for Whitley. She worked two jobs, clocking in 55 hours a week while attending classes full-time. Her dedication paid off, and she graduated on time in four years, holding multiple leadership roles and forming lasting relationships.
What sets Whitley apart is her inner peace, which radiates confidence. She doesn’t compare herself to others; she competes with herself, and her achievements aren’t defined by others’ successes. Her belief in resilience shines through in her favorite quote by Helen Keller: “A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn.”
When asked about what she wants to be remembered for, Whitley’s humor and humility come through. She plans to stick around for a while, but she hopes to be known for her positive attitude, her ability to lead by example, her willingness to help others, and her knack for making people laugh.
Her passion lies in constant growth and learning, and she believes in using what makes you unique to build your business. Her advice to up-and-coming top producers is to never stop learning from others, filter out negativity, and surround themselves with people they admire. She emphasizes managing the process rather than just the numbers, valuing time as the most precious commodity, and choosing one’s attitude, as it’s not what happens in life but how you handle it that truly matters.
Whitley’s family plays a central role in her life. Her husband, Clay, has been her pillar of support for 25 years.
They have two sons, Hudson and Jackson, who constantly teach them new lessons. Their English Bulldog, Duke, adds a touch of playfulness to their lives.
Outside of work, Whitley enjoys traveling, playing sports, and working on home improvement projects. Her creative outlet lies in tearing things down and building something new. She believes that you never know if you can do something until you give it a try, a sentiment that resonates deeply with her life’s journey.
For someone who thrives on challenges and wears many hats, finding a work-life balance is a constant effort. Whitley acknowledges that while she’s happiest when she’s busy, her “why” remains her family. She strives to be a role model for them and to provide and be present for them. Achievements and awards mean little if they come at the expense of her role as a wife and mother. Balancing life’s demands requires daily commitment, but Whitley embraces it with the same resilience that defines her career.
In the world of Charleston real estate, Whitley Boyd is not just a top producer; she’s a force to be reckoned with. Her journey from a childhood of constant moves to becoming a respected figure in the industry is a testament to her determination, resilience, and commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around her. With her unwavering dedication to leading by example and her boundless enthusiasm for growth, Whitley Boyd’s star in Charleston’s real estate scene is destined to shine brighter with each passing year.
