After 52 years as a baseball broadcaster, 41 of them with his beloved Seattle Mariners, Rick Rizzs will call his last game on radio Sunday afternoon. At the mention of it, he almost immediately tears up.

“I’m a crybaby,” he confessed. “I cry at Hallmark commercials.”

The voice of summer for generations of Seattle baseball fans, Rizzs, 72, is sure to stir myriad emotions from those listening on Sunday. He himself has been a wreck this week as he counts down his final days before retirement.

He has been trying not to think too much about his last game. The memories are too rich, the emotions too strong, to fight back for long. Come Sunday afternoon, the only thing he knows for sure is he will have a box of tissues (or two) close by in the broadcast booth.

Last night the Harvest Moon rises behind Lady Liberty in New York Harbor. 🌕🗽

September's full Moon appeared above the horizon with its warm, golden glow, creating one of those fleeting moments when an iconic American landmark and the night sky share the same frame.

The Moon isn't actually changing size.

From a distant viewpoint, a powerful telephoto lens compresses the enormous distance between the photographer, the Statue of Liberty and the Moon.

For a few moments, it looks almost close enough to touch.
