We recently welcomed another first time group of Consumers Energy volunteers! We’re blessed to have multiple Consumers teams who serve lunch every month. Any time a group of at least five employees serve together, the company makes a financial gift to the shelter. Thank you Consumers employees and corporate for your investment in what we do!

Mental health matters. And thanks to our partnership with LifeWays, we’re able to make it a greater part of the care we provide at Jackson Interfaith Shelter! 💚

Through millage funding from LifeWays, two part time therapists are serving alongside our team at the shelter. Heather and Troy spend one on one time with clients, lead classes focused on mental health and wellness, and are available to provide support and encouragement to both clients and staff.

For many seeking shelter at JIS, homelessness comes with layers of stress, trauma, uncertainty and change. Having someone available to help navigate those challenges can be just the support they need to move forward.

We’re grateful to LifeWays for investing in the mental health and well being of our community and for helping us care for the whole person!

It's move-out day for Jeffrey and his family! They worked so hard while staying with us and what a gift it is to celebrate their accomplishments. Help us celebrate this sweet family on their new chapter! 🎉

We recently wrapped up our last class with MSU Extension Nutrition and Wellness! The group made fruit smoothies, learned how to be mindful of added sugars in beverages, and celebrated with graduation gifts. Thank you Rebecca for another wonderful round of healthy cooking!

Another Ella Sharp Museum field trip is in the books! This month we enjoyed exploring the museum (with a sneak peek of the newest exhibit in the making!) and then created our own hand lettered art. These excursions are one of our favorites and we always enjoy our time at the museum. Thank you Ella Sharp for your partnership!
