My heart is heavy today.

Florida State University holds a special place in the lives of many people I love—friends, mentors, and family who walked its campus, grew in its classrooms, and built lasting memories under its canopy of oaks.

To see a place so full of promise and tradition shaken by violence is devastating. I can’t stop thinking about the students, faculty, and families impacted—those who were simply trying to live, learn, and grow.

While today is filled with sorrow, I know this community is resilient. FSU has always stood for more than just a university—it’s a symbol of strength, pride, and unity.

And even now, in the midst of pain, that spirit remains:
Unconquered.
