With the Holidays upon us, and many families decorating, traveling, and celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Years, and the final night of Hanukkah, we wanted to put out a brief post about how to keep your home and family safe! Feel free to share with your renters as well!

1. Make sure both indoor and outdoor holiday lights are off, and/or on a timer whenever you leave them unattended!

2. Don't overburden sockets or outlets!

3. If you buy a Christmas tree, check it for freshness. Make sure the nettles aren't dry and/or brittle. A dry tree is a fire hazard!

4. If you leave on vacation let a trusted neighbor or friend know your home will be unattended. Leave a light (not string lights!) on and don't leave garbage cans at the curb. A safe house is one that doesn't appear empty!

5. Finally, and sadly, practice safe distancing. This year is unlike any most of us have experienced in our lifetimes. Covid-19 has fundamentally changed the way we interact, and unfortunately, this season can be no different. Limit the size of your personal gatherings, don't visit loved ones if they are feeling Ill (or you are feeling Ill yourself) and avoid large crowds whenever possible.
But most importantly, have a wonderful and safe holiday season!
