Anybody in the Onslow County area want to try out some unnecessary beekeeping gadgetry? 🤔

"Well Carroll if they are so great then why are you selling?!"

I tried 'em, hated 'em, now I gotta get rid of 'em! 🤣

The silver thing is a rolling uncapper dongle-apparratus. It rolls, it crushed, and it breaks open your honey cells kind of sort of good enough but not really as good as I'd like.

The yellow and gray boxes are those flow-style honey supers. I never actually used them for a full season so I can't honestly tell you just how bad I hated 'em but I sure can cuss a good deal about the idea of 'em!!

Now if you're not sold, that's alright! You probably don't need this crap anyways!

But if you do somehow want to try them out after THAT review, drop me a line and let's talk!

No first year beekeepers please. I don't want you to shun beekeeping because of some gadgets.

Does anybody know what this "cute" little bug is? 🤔

My daughter informed me that she had found "a tree climbing crustaceans" in our pine trees.

Upon examination it appears to be an insect of some kind with some very effective camo.

It's hard to tell but I think the camo may be made up of the exoskeletons of some vanquished other insects?

Anybody know what this is? 🤔

Did you know there's a secret society of local beekeepers? 👀

That's right! 😱

On the second Tuesday of every month, beekeepers from all over Onslow County converge at the local Farm Bureau office - a very secret location to discuss the mysterious inner workings of the hive. 🐝

As the Secretary of the Onslow County Beekeepers Association, Melissa ensures that the local members are kept in the loop with what to expect at the upcoming meeting, a summary of the previous meeting, and reminders of upcoming events.

Another stop during Frontline to Farm was Against the Grain.

They are a community supported agriculture farm producing fresh vegetables for their local community, and it was impressive to see how much food they are growing from a very organized setup.

They use high tunnels to keep production going through much of the year, which allows them to grow vegetables even when the weather would normally slow things down.

The setting was beautiful. Mountain views, rows of vegetables, high tunnels, and that quiet farm rhythm.

But what really stood out was how efficient the operation was.

They talked through some of the labor-saving systems they use, and you could tell there was a lot of thought behind the layout and workflow.

Lettuce, garlic, tomatoes, squash, and plenty more coming out of that farm for local families.

It was a good reminder that small farms still have to be smart businesses. You can have the pretty views and the ideal setting, but the work still has to make sense on the ground.
