Real estate sales are seasonal. In a typical year houses start to go on the market, in volume, starting in late February to mid-March.
The inventory tends to peak in mid-summer, stay steady through September and reduce in the remainder of the year, reaching a low point in December.

This depends upon what you, the customer is trying to accomplish, your personal needs outweigh market differences.
The issues people should consider are:
When do I need to be able to, or expect to, make the actual move?
Do I have major plans during the Holidays, or are they going to be less stressful for me?
Where will the interest rates be in the Spring?
The market facts are:
The market has its fewest participants during the Holidays, inventory starts to grow significantly in March, and this continues into June. Therefore, it is less likely to find the right house.
If a purchaser can find the house he wants, and is willing to go under contract during the Holidays and close in the beginning of the year, he can frequently drive a better bargain during the Holidays.
•House prices tend to go up in the Spring, and come down during the Holidays, so the likelihood of a "good deal" if the right home can be located, is improved during the Holidays, and grows slimmer as the calendar marches forward.

Not yet. Real estate prices are driven by the market, which is supply and demand. What the industry has seen over the last 6 quarters is supply exceeding demand, which we all see with more houses for sale. However, fairly priced, well merchandised homes are always in demand. For buyers, this means there are bargains on homes that need cosmetics; for sellers, it is time-appropriate to do a thorough review and cosmetic work prior to placing a home on the market.
