2026 Property Revaluation: What Onslow County Property Owners Need to Know
The Onslow County Tax Department is currently working on the 2026 revaluation, a state-required process that updates property values to match the current market values. This helps ensure taxes are shared fairly across all property owners.
State law requires countywide revaluation at least every 8 years but the County does a tax revaluation every 4 years. More frequent revaluations help ensure property values are accurately assessed, and can reduce sticker shock as values increase.
Since the last revaluation in 2022, property values across the county have grown, with a median increase of 37%. A revaluation is not a tax increase—the tax rate for 2026 values will be set next June during the County’s budget process.

The Schedule of Values is the criteria used to determine the market value of property during a revaluation. It explains how land, homes, and buildings are valued based on real sales in the local market. By using one consistent set of rules, the County ensures that all properties are valued fairly. The Schedule of Values was adopted November and it is being applied to every property in Onslow County.
