If you're buying an older home, don't be surprised if your insurance company requires more than just a home inspection. Depending on the age of the home, you may also need a four-point inspection and possibly a wind mitigation inspection before you can obtain homeowners insurance. Knowing this before you go under contract can help you avoid surprises and keep your transaction moving smoothly.
