Dear Honey,
You’re only a couple of months old and you don’t know it yet, but this time next year you will be given a hero, a veteran- a veteran who has selflessly served to protect our lives and our freedoms domestic and abroad, and you will be tasked to become their hero. You will help these hero’s transition into the civilian life that so many of us have the unacknowledged privilege of living everyday. Even though their fight for our freedoms are over, the fight of coping with their acquired injuries, seen and mostly unseen, have just begun. I am so proud of my sister who has taken on the awesome responsibility of fostering, caring and training this puppy for its lifelong duty of assisting veterans to return to a life of dignity and independence. I can’t imagine what the next 12 months will be like for the both of you. I know your foster mom will work tirelessly to train you for an amazing and rewarding life of healing someone who us as Americans are deeply indebted to.
Thank you Honey, Lauren, K-9 for Warriors and most importantly, thank you to all our veterans and armed forces who keep us safe everyday.
