San Marco faces the test that mixing single-family houses, townhouses and apartments can create a nice place to live...if done correctly. Keeping the development unique to our area will be critical. San Marco is a historical area of Jacksonville and too much “modernization” will unquestionably take away from the heritage that brought many of us here. Hopefully San Marco will remain a great place to live and continue to attract a mix of people with all of this new development. People who can’t afford or don’t want a single family home will have the opportunity to live in an area that has not previously been available. One viewpoint would show local businesses and restaurants thriving because the large number of new residents can simply walk to their locations, but mobility through the urban area of San Marco has long been an issue and there is simply no remedy in sight even without new development.
