The real estate industry continues on its path of massive change. Compass announced yesterday it's acquiring Anywhere Real Estate (Century 21, Coldwell Banker, Corcoran, Sotheby's International Realty, ERA) in a $1.6B all-stock deal, creating a $10 billion real estate giant with 340,000 agents globally.
This isn't just another merger - it's consolidation at a scale we've never seen. The combined companies would be the world's largest brokerage, with roughly 340,000 real estate professionals servicing about 120 countries and territories.
For agents at these brands, I'm curious: How are you feeling about this news? Are you excited about expanded technology and referral opportunities, or concerned about maintaining your brand's unique culture and independence?
For Buyers and Sellers, how do you feel about this? How does this effect your decision about working with an Agent from a Brokerage under the Compass umbrella?
The deal isn't expected to close until the second half of 2026, so there's time to process this, but the ripple effects are already starting.
What questions are your clients asking? How are you positioning this with prospects who might be wondering about stability and continuity?
I'd love to hear from agents and customers who are directly impacted - drop your thoughts below. This affects all of us, regardless of our brokerage.
